Idea Management

Idea Management is the process of generating, storing, evaluating and selecting ideas for further development.

It can vary from the simple and age-old suggestion box, to modern software systems, but the goal is always the same - to collect as many ideas as possible and filter out the chaff, leaving the nuggets that could turn into gold.

Periodically, product managers or executive management will review the ideas list and evaluate the ideas with a simple screening or scoring system.

One of the keys to success is making sure that good quality feedback is always given to everyone who submits an idea, so that they have confidence in the system and continue to support it.

Another important facet to a successful system is to give clear guidelines as to the area in which ideas are sought, so that submissions are more likely to be in line with the company strategy.
